The BCI and Solidaridad have signed a consultation agreement for China. Solidaridad has successfully undertaken Identification Stage activities. A report is available to download.
At the end of 2010, the BCI Council has confirmed that the 'Procedures for consulting on and establishing the Better Cotton System' in China have been complied with. A successful multistakeholder workshop was held in Beijing in November 2010.
This means that 2011 will see the development of the Better Cotton System in China, with the aim to have Better Cotton produced by farmers in China from the 2012 harvest. Funding is currently being sought to support this work.
