WHERE DO WE WORK?
BCI focus regions
During the implementation start-up phase (2010-2012), the BCI geographical focus is on four regions: Brazil, India, Pakistan and West & Central Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali, Senegal, Togo). These regions include a diversity of climatic conditions, farm sizes, agricultural practices and environmental and social impacts.
Between February 2007 and July 2009, the BCI has been actively consulting with Regional Working Groups, including cotton producers and other supply actors, local civil society and international organisations, in these regions to help develop the Better Cotton System. Reports on the consultation with the Regional Working Groups are available to download from each region / country page.
Beyond focus regions
BCI is an open and inclusive multi-stakeholder initiative and is exploring the process of working with other organisations to see how the Better Cotton System can be implemented beyond the BCI focus regions. Read more
